.....RULES.....

Organizers are aiming to keep the rules as simple as we can.  The basic rules of the competition are stipulated by the following document; however competition organizers, the Poverty Bay Rugby Union, reserve the right to have final say on any decisions regarding this competition. 

  • Entries
  • - Entries will be taken as an individual performer or team of 2/3. Depending on entry numbers individuals and teams will compete in separate competitions.
  • - To enter contact the PBRFU at the listed numbers or entries will be taken on the day.
  • - Based on entries, on the day, competition may be divided into separate age groups at the discretion of organizers
  • Time
  • - 3.30pm - 4.15pm registrations/entries will be taken. 4.00pm competition begins
  • - Each competitor will be given a maximum of 2 minutes for each performance
  • Format
  • - Upon commencement of competition individuals or teams will be asked to perform their trick 3 times before the judges.
  • - The same trick may be performed 3 times before the judges, to ensure success or to score even more highly (if successful) 3 separate tricks may be performed during your performance.
  • - Upon entry all competitors will participate in a round robin format, which will progress to quarter finals, semi finals and a final. Format will be confirmed on the day based on entries.
  • - Tricks will be performed in an area marked out by organizers, 6m x 6m approx. If more space is required competition organizers need to be notified.
  • Equipment
  • - A selection of size 3, 4 & 5 balls will be available for use in your trick/performance
  • - Any additional props/equipment required for your trick/performance will need to be provided by yourself/ves
  • - Footwear is optional
  • Music
  • - Music will be supplied by MORE FM, however if you have particular music or CD track to go with you trick or performance please bring it with you, Please, no mp3 players / ipods,
  • Judging
  • - Tricks will be marked by a panel of judges appointed by the PBRFU. These judges will be introduced to competitors at the commencement of competition
  • - Each judge will award a points score at the completion of each performance, which will be based on the following criteria:
  • o Difficulty
  • o Originality
  • o Presentation
  • o Performance
  • - The competitor/s with the highest total score/s will progress through round robin, quarters finals, semi finals
  • Small Blacks TV
  • - Small Blacks TV has been invited to attend this event. Consequently those competing are in with a good chance of appearing on national TV!!
  • Prize giving
  • - A short prize giving will take place at the conclusion of competition where prizes will be distributed and necessary acknowledgements made.
